Danna Tartaglia
Always an artist, Danna came into the world with crayon in hand.
Creativity is her default mode. Painting from instinct, motion and emotion are key motivators in her choice of subjects. Horses fit that theme so well.
Danna paints many subjects, but there is never an end to the enjoyment of capturing the beauty of a horse in paint.
That muscular, curved neck with an unruly, windblown mane and a wild eye! Hoofs kicking up the dust! That energy!
Or soft colors defining a quiet contemplative moment, as in ‘Summer Shadows’.
So many ways to get a horse onto canvas, the many postures, the muscles and curves, and shapes, the allure is never-ending.
Danna will visit horse ranches to capture photos, but mostly to get that sense of ‘horse’ , to feel what that particular horse is. Then, to feel that horse when standing at the easel with brush in hand, she allows the muse to take over and the magic to happen.
Horses are a cipher, they are a secret code, for us who adore them.
Their hearts are huge and they connect to us, and we to them…when we are chosen.
Their aura envelops us, and we cannot escape.
Danna has received awards for her art, and she has been a resident artist in southern Oregon. She has been featured in national art magazines and has owned galleries representing national artists, and has worked in helping other galleries.
Currently living in Texas after many years on the west coast, she enjoys taking on painting requests and helps with The Woodlands Art League, and volunteers for The Waterways Arts Festival every April.
