Help Provide Care Through Sponsoring
Our sponsorship program helps provide retired Lipizzans with the care and comfort they deserve. Foster homes offer daily love and attention, while sponsors help cover essentials like feed, farrier visits, and vet care. Whether you open your pasture or give monthly support, you’ll be making a lasting difference in a Lipizzan’s life.

Jolena
Born 7/2001, about 14-2 hands. Jolena was relinquished to the LRF in December 2024. At that time, she was in very poor condition and assigned a body score of 1 by the Sanctuary where she was initially located, while a foster placement was found.
What we know: Jolena's early years were spent as a broodmare. By nature, she is a very friendly, outgoing mare. As a broodmare, she would have had a lot of handling, but she does not appear to have had much training. She is a very active, high-energy girl and loves to get out and run. She is also very attached to her herd-mates and can quickly become quite anxious when separated.
What she needs: Since she was taken in, she has had two dental appointments. As a result of the neglect, more dental work will be required to bring her teeth and jaw into a functional chewing configuration. She has gained good weight with free-choice hay and supplements – a very enthusiastic eater. She still needs muscle and topline development, but it is improving as she is very active in a large pasture area.
She has also had two farrier appointments and has recovered well-shaped hoofs. Routine farrier care will continue to be needed on a regular schedule. Jolena will also benefit from the attention of an equine bodywork professional to assess her hip and pelvic positions, which may have been compromised. We are looking forward to providing that evaluation for her later this month.
That’s where you come in.
By becoming a sponsor, you provide critical monthly support to Lena. Your sponsorship helps cover essentials such as hay, grain, farrier visits, veterinary care, and supplements, all of which ensure a healthy recovery and a high quality of life.
As a sponsor, you’ll become a special part of her journey. We’ll share updates and photos so you can follow along every step of the way. Supporting her care is easy: set up a recurring monthly donation through PayPal, or use our new option and send your monthly gift via Venmo.
Thank you for helping us give these horses a second chance.
