Help Provide Care Through Sponsoring
Our sponsorship program helps provide retired Lipizzans with the care and comfort they deserve. Foster homes offer daily love and attention, while sponsors help cover essentials like feed, farrier visits, and vet care. Whether you open your pasture or give monthly support, you’ll be making a lasting difference in a Lipizzan’s life.
Sino
Conversano Arrizona II, aka “Sino,” was born on June 8, 2012, in Pakenham, Ontario, and his first eight years were not easy ones. Before being relinquished to the Lipizzan Rescue Foundation in March of 2020, Sino was in training preliminary to an eventual sale, but he failed to pass the pre-purchase exam due to arthritis in his hocks. In mid-August of 2020, his current owner, Lynne, saw Sino’s profile on the LRF website and inquired about him, and shortly thereafter, she signed his adoption papers. But his journey to Lynne in Oregon was not without complications, and a circuitous journey on a transport that took him from Canada to New York, Kentucky, and on to Texas, where another Lipizzan gelding was being dropped off…and finally to Oregon…

Now 13 years old and having survived such harrowing experiences, Sino is finally beginning to relax and take comfort in Lynne’s expert care. He is turned out daily with her older gelding and mare and has had body work every month since breaking his neck. Lynne observes that Sino will be a pasture pet only, as there is no way to truly assess what, if any, nerve damage was done when he incurred the traumatic injury.
She notes, “Amazingly, he is a glorious mover and just has a slight tilt to his head. The N-Restore herbs the LRF has provided for him have significantly quieted his hyper sensitivities.”
The herbal supplements Lynne references are provided for Sino by the LRF at a cost of between $180 and $330 a month, and we’re hoping to secure sponsors to help cover this expense.
The dedication and commitment Lynne continues to invest in Sino’s well-being is exemplary of the LRF’s determination to offer every at-risk Lipizzan a safe and secure future in a loving home. Your donation – whatever the amount – will go directly toward providing these remarkable horses with the care they need and so deserve.
Jolena
Top images were taken when Lena arrived at her foster home, December 2024. Bottom images were taken summer of 2025.
Born 7/2001, about 14-2 hands. Jolena was relinquished to the LRF in December 2024. At that time, she was in very poor condition and assigned a body score of 1 by the Sanctuary where she was initially located, while a foster placement was found.
What we know: Jolena's early years were spent as a broodmare. By nature, she is a very friendly, outgoing mare. As a broodmare, she would have had a lot of handling, but she does not appear to have had much training. She is a very active, high-energy girl and loves to get out and run. She is also very attached to her herd-mates and can quickly become quite anxious when separated.
What she needs: Since she was taken in, she has had two dental appointments. As a result of the neglect, more dental work will be required to bring her teeth and jaw into a functional chewing configuration. She has gained good weight with free-choice hay and supplements – a very enthusiastic eater. She still needs muscle and topline development, but it is improving as she is very active in a large pasture area.
She has also had two farrier appointments and has recovered well-shaped hoofs. Routine farrier care will continue to be needed on a regular schedule. Jolena will also benefit from the attention of an equine bodywork professional to assess her hip and pelvic positions, which may have been compromised. We are looking forward to providing that evaluation for her later this month.
